Verizon’s iPhone that is more or less a surefire winner the moment it is released, looks set to be around $20 to $30 more expensive compared to what AT&T is offering simply because of the higher cost of CDMA wireless components used inside – that’s what J.P. Morgan has to say about the situation. After all, to work with Verizon’s network, the device must be redesigned internally with a CDMA radio which is slightly more costly than the UMTS chipset used in the current iPhone 4 from AT&T. There is one interesting thing to think about – with the apparent mass exodus of iPhone users from AT&T to Verizon, will we see AT&T’s network ease in terms of data congestion? That and will Verizon prove they have a better network by taking on millions of new iPhone users at once? Time to take out the popcorn and enjoy the show.
